@lauralouie831 To be honest, with the recent changes to the way the clubs message boards work, I'm not sure what the *best* way is right now. I can make a few general suggestions for *good* ways, however :)

The easiest thing used to be to advertise on the "Share Your Story" board, but they recently got rid of that. You can still advertise in the appropriate thread on the subject boards, however.

Anyhow, what seems to work well for me is:

          1) read a lot of people's work, and make polite, but *interesting*, comments on everything you read (unless you really hate it, of course). Some percentage of those people will be curious enough about what you've written to want to check out your work. And in the process, you'll probably make some new friends, and get a chance to enjoy some good stories.

          2) Be active on the subject boards when the topics are things you're interested in. Don't be afraid to say,'in my story "name of story", I handled that problem by . . . whatever writing technique you used'. Again, some of the readers of the thread will be curious and want to check your work out.

          3) Make sure it's written fairly well - try to get rid of all the obvious grammar and spelling problems, so that when people read it, they like it.

          4) Use the tags - try to pick interesting and descriptive tags, and put as many as Wattpad will allow you to put; it increases the chances of somebody stumbling onto your story using the 'search' function

          5) Break everything up into small parts - because Wattpad counts each part separately for the 'read' count, more, smaller parts means a higher rating on the What's Hot list. However, don't be stupid about this - break things up where it's logical, or you'll get your readers angry.

Anyhow, it takes a while to find your 'niche', but if you give it time you'll find a circle of people whose work you like, and who like your work.

If you want me to take a look at anything you've written, feel free to ask!
