missed my recommendation for yesterday for it is now

scythe by neal shusterman: this first installment in a dystopian trilogy is possible one of the best in the genre. set in a supposedly utopian world, it brings up questions and musings around death and the cycle of life the reader wouldn’t have even considered before. the writing style is easy to follow but enticing, with the heart aching cliche of the two who were destined to fall in love but had no other choice than to hide it under the pretence of being enemies.
10/10, easily the best dystopian/ sci fi novel i’ve ever read.

HAPPY PRIDE EVERYONE

to start the month (and because recently i managed to drag myself out of my reading slump and spend all my money at waterstones) here's a brilliant queer book recommendation!

i kissed shara wheeler by casey mcquiston: now, casey's books are always absolute masterpieces, however i have to say when i stumbled across this one after having finished reading one last stop for the fiftieth time, i didn't have such high expectations for it. they've already outdone themselves twice, i thought, can they really do it again? the answer is yes, they can. this book is the perfect balance of angst and over the top romance, with fiery characters (most of whom are queer), and a sharp portrayal of how religion, when mishandled, can sometimes lead to the suffocation of identity.
10/10, would recommend this to anybody, any day of the week.
