You know, in a story what I hate most is when something about a character doesn’t make sense. Not to hate on anyone, but I just don’t like it. For example, in a story if a character came from COMPLETELY human parents then they should be human too. It also irks me when they are ridiculously over powered. And the cliche of having wings and control over the elements just gets to me. I like to learn the reason behind things, and how they can be scientifically possible in THAT universe. Some stories don’t have that.
Like they say that their parents were completely human, but ohhh! Now their offspring has horns and wings and control over the elements! Don’t forget they are the most powerful being in the universe! Like talking to ghost it acceptable to me, since it can come from something scientific, or actually have a reason. But everything else that people make their characters out to be is just... no! How is it possible to have completely human backgrounds but yet your a overpowered hybrid thingy?
I get that the people who do this are most likely just starting, but some people out in the world have been writing for years and STILL DO THIS. My friend, she likes to create ocs a lot. But when we put our ocs in the same universe, she tries to make hers ridiculously overpowered and even more cliche, to just make her character seem badass. I’m teaching her how to properly make an oc, and it will take time. But at least she’s trying.
That’s my little rant for the day.
