What do you think really happened to Alyss in that fire? Every time a main character "dues", good or bad, they're not really dead. Like Sherlock or Gandolf. What my older sister and I decided that she fell, broke her leg, and stumbled out the back door. She was captured by one of the slave ring workers. Since she tried to escape, she was put on the ship early. They continued their storyteller business. Later, she saw Will shooting flaming arrows at the ship, the other captives escape, and the whole climax of the book from the ship. Fortunately, one of the men in the slave ring who want on board to take Alyss to the slave country escaped. Will hunted him down and handed him over to the king, Horace, for questioning about any other slaves or slave rings. He told Will the good news. Now Will and his apprentice are off to rescue her.
