@Rowriter Thanks for the warm welcome.  My advice for writing.  If it is your passion, keep writing.  You learn things over time, by writing and working on it.  I always suggest that a writer finish a novel, then put it on a shelf for about three months.  Take it down, read it with a critical eye and you will see the flaws and changes that it may need.  Writing is hard work but a wonderful creative endeavor.  Make sure you keep the story flowing and moving along.  Keep your reader engaged.  Remember time and place.  And enjoy the process. :)
