A peek at the next chapter of "Adam: Sharia By Day, Streets By Night":

It was silent and indirect, but I'd experienced my first status promotion from newbie to a liaison. The street n*ggas, who represented ASJ on the ave, were relied on to handle petty sh*t. Because of that, higher-ups, like Tyco, didn't really know the details of what was happening on the block unless they reported. I was the link between them and Tyco.

Frankly, I appreciated the progress I'd made in just a couple of months. I had my lady, who motivated me while keeping her own sh*t together and her mind focused on school.

I'd dedicated a large portion of the money I earned to Mama, who reluctantly took the money from me after staring into my eyes first.

"Why do you do this?" Mama asked me.

A peek at the next chapter of "Adam: Sharia By Day, Streets By Night":

""So, are you?" Rita asked, holding her books tightly to her chest. I noticed then how big her breasts were, and once I did, it took every ounce of self-restraint to not stare at them too.

"Am I what?" I asked nonchalantly.

"Are you fvcked up over me?" Rita asked, standing directly in front of me.

"I can't be," I answered simply, before walking away from the woman of my dreams.

A peek at the slight late next chapter of "Adam: Sharia By Day, Streets By Night":

"Asha came out of her and Mama's room then, dressed in a miniskirt and tank top.

"What the fvck do you think you're doing?" I yelled, stopping in my tracks.

"You make a big deal out of everything. It's not that short," my fourteen year old sister said, waving me off.

Asha was at a dangerous age, and I didn't want niggas around the block to get the wrong idea and try to get with her. That's my blood, and none of these boys are worthy of her. Her light skin and pretty face alone didn't help keep them away, and now she was wearing fvcking miniskirts.

          "Change," I ordered simply. "

""That's you?" I asked Tyco incredulously, pointing at his ride. His hookup looked amazing. Meanwhile, I was still riding the bus everywhere.

"One of 'em," Tyco answered calmly, as if owning expensive cars was an ordinary thing. He turned to one of the boys, "Sweet, I need you at the wheel, homie."

Sweet walked over to the car and got in the driver's seat as Tyco got into the passenger's seat. The other two boys, Les and Mike, and I loaded up into the back seats. Tyco turned back to face the three of us before asking,"Y'all loaded?"

Sweet, Les, and Mike pulled out guns to show him, and I froze, not knowing what to do. They all looked at me, Tyco also pulling out his piece. "Africa, where ya shvt at?""

A peek at the next chapter of "Adam: Sharia By Day, Streets By Night":

"So that was his name: Tyco. And that moment I decided I was going to get to the level of power that Tyco had- such a level of power that was enough to make threats that no one ever questioned or opposed. And just like that, I'd get all the money I could ever ask for. I could get Mama and Asha the fvck out of Brooklyn and living somewhere fancy, like Jersey. Watch out Tyco, I thought. I'm coming for you."
