TURQUOISE

          	The sun was coming.

It painted the sky a multitude of colours, dancing between night and day. It was behind the trees, not ready yet to say good morning to us, yet willing to give us a sense of direction.

I wondered when it had gotten so late. Was it considered late, or more so early? A quick look at my phone told me it was 5:30 in the morning. The city was still quiet, most people only now getting out of bed or heading to work.

Twilight, often used to describe the time between dark and light in the evening. Twilight sounds like an odd thing, like the last minute of hope before everything goes dark. What no one really knows is that it can also sound like the luck you've needed your whole life yet didn't know you had. It's an evening or morning kind of word.

ORANGE

          Nature was mesmerizing.

The trees made it nearly impossible to see the sky with how close they grew and how many there were. There were only small spaces where the leaves had begun to fall in their many different colours. I was surrounded by reds, oranges, yellows and few greens still up on the treetops.

Nature always seemed to be at the center of my expeditions and adventures, as a child and as a teenager alike. It always seemed like the best place to go when I felt the most curious. It held a lot of answers to questions I never really had to begin with.

The sun was like a sibling to me.

It held me in its arms and steadied me on my feet. It was the brace I always needed. The reason for which I wasn't big on night time.

As I walked, I could see just above the trees the sun was setting. But I didn't feel like going in yet. It was a beautiful time, the leaves taking their fall. The trees bare against the small wind.

          The bench was cold.

The air around me however was nice and warm, pulling me in and giving me a false hope of security. It was the type of weather that bordered hot and cold. It was situated in that thin line that made it impossible to wear a jacket and yet still too cold to be walking around with a t-shirt.

          Sweater weather.

It was good weather. The one where you can walk for hours in silence and not feel like it was eating you alive. The days were getting shorter, the sun setting early in the evening and rising later in the morning.

          Who would come here willingly?

I let my eyes wander across the room over my classmates that have always seemed to avoid me at any cost. That was fine for me; I hated any and all human interaction and people knew that.

School was the worst, forced to sit at a desk for 7 hours through a day, wasting the precious time I could spend doing the few things I don't dislike.

Like listening to music, for example. Music is my getaway from all the bullshit in life. Listening to music was prohibited during class hours.
