I'm R.A Featherstone (pen name), known as Checkmate or CheckmateGaming in some circles. I've been into creative writing since I was a teen and always loved to read. People always think I'm older than I am, mainly because I don't act my age. I grew up in Perth, Western Australia and joined my local volunteer fire brigade at 16, the Australian Army at 18, and got out on medical discharge. I also fought in the Ukraine War as a volunteer International Legionnaire. Since 2024 I've settled down some, seeking a quieter life.

I've recently become a father with my amazing partner, and I'm happy to say my days of fighting battles and fires alike are behind me.
