I've been writing for 5 years, fiction stories.
Lately, it has been challenging to improve on my grammar and to make sure I don't get my tenses mixed up while writing stories that switch between the past and the present. Rarely, I ever write something in future tense, unless I have a character that tells the future.
Either way, I've been struggling because I want to take editing as a serious growth to my craft. If I can reduce the amount of work for a professional editor to do, I can just pay for a proofreader, which is significantly cheaper until there's more funds to pay a line-editor. I have to admit, having a team of editors makes life easier for a writer, but that's not the case most of the time, especially as someone like me who wants to self-publish.
So, now I'm researching like a mad-person on how to do everything. It would've helped to have formal education on it while in school, but who in the world can focus in school with so much crazy stuff going on. Most of the time, I was just trying to survive the hallways, and the boring classes. College, it's all about studying something that will pay well, and get that so-called house with the white picket fence.
Now here I am... Trying to do everything myself. Learning and all.
