Hi,
I just want to say this,
the past couple of days were a little weird for me as a fan.
It was hard to see people reacting that way to chae.
Being a fan of hers for a couple of years, knowing her personality who always cherish others and make other people comfortable and loved, I have a strong feeling that she bought that shirt for aesthetic reason, without really giving much thought to that symbol as that punk suits her style. It was a big mistake and she should be criticised for her lack of awareness, But I think she also knows that and probably condones her action as she quickly held herself accountable for it.
But what hurts me the most is seeing antis taking advantage of it, by mocking her and the sentiments of the people who are affected by this. Wishing her harm, name-calling, etc etc. They don't care about these things, just being moral police on a free social media platform if that means they get to hate on twice and chae.
If you dislike her after this, that's your choice, but I hope no one goes that low to hate on her. It might be surprising but knowing a historical event does not always mean you will always be that aware of these symbols, especially when these symbols are common and have a positive meaning in Asia. Even I come from an Asian family and if I see these symbols tilted or not my first thought won't be that but maybe I can connect it to that later. It's not always being ignorant but rather how we are unaware or less emotionally connected with the historical events of other countries. There are things others aren't aware of that happened in my country and that might hurt my sentiments too, while you may not understand the gravity of that things. Hence some ways I may not be able to understand how much it affected Jewish people even though I am aware of how cruel it was. But at the same time, I can see how there's a possibility that she didn't do it to hurt their feelings, but didn't put much thought into it which was wrong. that's all
