He just simply sees them as interesting. Not completely trusting, but not against them… unless they create unnecessary problems they are not equipped to handle.
I like to think Surya would absolutely DESTROY Kai's dad in a fight. Knowing the fact that he hunted her own kind and sa'ing Kai's mom, he's not gonna last long since Surya is part shark.
Well- only Kai- as Kai’s mom, Ariella, refused to have any ‘intimate’ contact with him, not wanting to be taken advantage of… which is why Darryl chose Kai as his… *ahem* Toy, because he was the only thing he could lay his hands on, without fearing any fighting back- ;—;
