I feel like Mike’s ‘theory’ that El is still alive ruined her death for me. I liked the idea of her dying with the upside down as the last surviving connection to it. I liked that the hero of the show was living up to her title and saving everyone. Whilst I think Mike’s theory is sweet, I just don’t like that it implies ‘here we’ve finally killed a main character after 5 seasons, but we don’t actually have the balls to go through with it so we’re hinting that she’s actually not dead’ — and don’t get me started on the fact it’s been 5 seasons of like 15+ main characters persistently surviving against these supposedly deadly monsters and in the final battle where they actually destroy the whole villain once and for all, there are two deaths? One character who dies is a side character widely disliked by the fandom anyway, who’s only had like 5 episodes (obviously nobody is going to care), and the main character from the start, whose death is actually pretty sad… until they say ‘nvm, clickbait, she’s actually maybe alive’ it just felt really lazy and dumb. As much as everyone was posting ‘i hope they don’t kill …’ I think it’d be a more enjoyable watch for everyone if there were some heartbreaking losses, or heroic sacrifices. Instead of this we got a side couple half-assed death scares. Steve’s ‘death scare’ is a whole other story. It was like a 3 second moment at the start of the episode. We all knew he wouldn’t die that soon in the episode from something so dumb as falling off a tower. Especially after the Duffer brothers spoiled their own show by blatantly saying steve falls but he’s fine? Literally told us what would happen. The epilogue was painfully long, boring and irrelevant. The scene with (my favourite four characters) steve, nancy, robin and jonathan in the epilogue was tragically bad. Ignoring the fact the designers need fired, it was just boring. Ts is not the breakfast club, y’all aren’t meeting up once a month.
