Idk why my family can't seem to understand that accidents happen, and when I mess up, it's by COMPLETE accident. Let me give an example: Last night, I offered to help refill a cat food bowl. As I was pouring the cat food, I didn't know I was too far away from the bowl. The bowl somehow hit the top of the cat food bag, and cat food went everywhere. I didn't mean to spill it, but instead of assuring me that it was an accident, and offering to help me clean it up, I just got berated, yelled at, and picked on, even after apologizing. When I offered to clean it up, I just got snapped at. The same thing happened earlier, but this one involved my 3 month old puppy, Ollie. The kid wanted on the couch, and he can't jump on the couch yet. He's EXTREMELY heavy for a puppy. I didn't want to put him on the other couch, bc he would've instantly bothered my dog, and I didn't want a fight to break out. So, I put Ollie on the other couch, COMPLETELY unaware that my Mama's phone was charging there. I didn't know Ollie was going to jump down, and when he did, he unplugged the charging port. Now, I'm REALLY worried that I might've had a "What Have I Done" moment and inadvertently broke my Mama's phone. To make matters worse, she saw it happen, and INSTANTLY started berating me instead of assuring me that she knew it was an accident, even though I apologized about five times. Now, I feel TERRIBLE. I'm not upset, just REALLY confused. What did I do wrong? How was I supposed to know my puppy would jump down? But what am I supposed to do to prevent it when the kid's only 3 months old, and gets into EVERYTHING? I'm starting to feel like I'm not capable of keeping a puppy.
