Sorry to announce I went ahead and unpublished Foxtrot - I don't think it can fulfill my original intention in posting it. Maybe I'll return to it someday.
I am trying to work on something new. Something small, something I can try to finish relatively quickly. That's always a challenge for me, but I think the things I need to focus on are best done in shorter formats. In the meantime, I'll still try to drop by here and take a look around!

@Remnantation :( sad to hear that, but if it feels like the right decision then it's probably for the best. Good luck with your shorter writing projects! :)

I'm almost caught up on WP things, but I wanted to post an update to say that I am considering taking Foxtrot down. I don't feel like it'll serve the purpose I had originally started posting it for, and it's certainly not the best I can do, I think. I'm going to start focusing on shorter projects, which I intend to post here, but I'm uncertain whether I should take Foxtrot down entirely or let it sit unfinished (But maybe take it to a better stopping point)? I imagine leaving it unfinished might be frustrating, but I learned a lot from what's been posted. Any thoughts?

@jessoterick I didn't realize you could unpublish without losing anything! So that's very useful to know, thank you!
And for the words of advice! I'm rather torn on it. It's also unfortunate because I had actually submitted it for an award contest and have still been waiting for that to conclude. So I feel a little bad one way or another! But anyways, thanks again!

@Remnantation Hi, Rem! If you think it's the right thing to do for you right now, I'd suggest removing it until you think you're in a good place with it again. I keep pubbing and unpubbing one of mine for similar reasons--I am terribly indecisive. It's really difficult to keep an update schedule, and I'm not 100% confident of anything I post. In any case, do what feels right. Though I recommend just unpublishing it without deleting so you don't lose all your hard-earned reads.

Due to circumstances, I've gotten behind on everything online. I'm getting back to WP now - if I usually drop by your new chapters and I haven't in a while, be prepared for a barrage! And Foxtrot... I'm going through one of those confliction periods, but I'm going to make myself post the next chapter very soon as well. Gotta work through all that, right?

Remnantation

@jessoterick Thanks! It's an effort, that's for sure.

@Remnantation Glad to have you back! And I know you can do it! We all get stuck sometimes, but you just gotta push through. :)

Hey Remnation I really liked Foxtrot and also your advice given on the book with fish in the well. Just wondering if you'd take a look at my work and give me some constructive criticism if it fits in your schedule

@AnthonieTaylor I've seen other authors include a "first chapter" dedicated to special words, and some include notes at the end of the chapter. Those options would be better than at the end, especially because it won't help us reading it now. And they work better for digital content - but I'd still recommend trying to weave information in the story instead of an index as much as you can.

For the grammar - it's a PAIN. I agree. And it's hard to know where to start. At the least, check out the program Grammarly, which installs in Word and into your browser (and you can get it free! That version is more basic but still great. I use it too). It will help immensely. Then study why it suggests the changes it does.

I know what it's like to have a project like that and I'm sure you want to get it as perfect as you can! Good luck. And I'm glad if this was helpful!

@AnthonieTaylor Absolutely amazing with the advice you have given me actually remarkable. To throw some context in here I've been working on this world since I was 13 and I see that I have a bad problem with expecting people to know what I know already. I also don't have very good grammar skills when it comes to punctuation and run on sentences/paragraphs. Regarding the language I wanted to take the time and actually write out each word and it's definition in the last "pages" kind of like the Author of Eragon did.

@AnthonieTaylor Hello! I went ahead and took a look at the two chapters you have posted. I hope you find it helpful! However, I would recommend in the future at least making sure you've got someone's name right when you're asking for help (And if you liked Foxtrot, please feel free to leave some thoughts on it there).

Thanks for stopping by and good luck with writing!

Thanks so much for all your votes today! I’m keeping all your comments and making notes for when I do edits!

AugustineReverie

Wow, thank you! There’s a lot to catch up on but I’ve stopped updating for the time being to focus on getting the story right

@AugustineReverie No problem! I would have left comments but to be honest, I didn't have much to say (And I'm trying to catch up to current chapters, haha)

I spent Friday going through the first five chapters of Foxtrot and incorporating a lot of the advice I've been given. In particular, I tried to adjust a lot of the explanations and make things clearer. Hopefully it helped.

          Also published chapter six today!
