I grew up a gymnast. Everything I did revolved around gymnastics. Practice could never come soon enough. On my off days, I worked on my own. I watched the Olympics, World Championships, National Championships, anything available on the TV. I read autobiographies by Olympic gymnasts. But I couldn't find good gymnastics fiction. So I decided to create my own.
I'm a worldbuilder. My gymnasts (and other characters) live in a different world. The gravity and science work like ours, but the geography, history, and politics do not. You also won't find anything related to the recent controversies in our world's gymnastics here.
A number of the stories I'll be posting will be short stories, but I have three books in the works. Chronologically, the first is about a teenager who is a member of her country's first Olympic-equivalent team and finding her voice and identity. The second follows Rhetia's best gymnast through her elite career and to university, all while she plays a role in the political struggles of her country. The third is about a young woman who battles injuries and a late start to gymnastics to claim her place among the greats.
I fall into the LGBTQ spectrum and some of my characters do, too.
