“Any name ideas yet?” he asked, as they slowed to tread water tail-lengths off the shore.
She thought for a moment, “It’s only been a couple days… but I’ve always wanted a kit named Eucalyptuskit,” she mewed, “How about you?”
He chuckled, “Sloekit.”
The she-cat flattened her ear, “Slowkit? StarClan’s kits!” she exclaimed,
“Exactly, every cat will think Slowkit as in speed, but they’re actually named after the berry. And because they’re half me they’ll find it funny,” he explained, wading his tail through the water.
His mate cast him a bewildered look before chuckling to herself, “Alright, so that’s two names,” she sighed, “How many would you want?”
The tom tilted his head, “How many do you think we’ll have?”
She hummed for a second, trying to imagine how many kits she could see tumbling at her paws, “Three, no two,” her mate laughed before she finally settled on a number, “three, three kits.”
His green eyes widened, a mix of shock and awe, “That’s a lot,” he said shaking his head.
“You’ve got two littermates,” she reasoned back causing a look of offence to spread across his face.
“That’s not fair! They don’t count,” he shouted, paddling away from her. 'Four, I’m going to have four kits – three tiny ones and you,' she thought to herself, watching her mate amuse himself in the waves he created, 'And we’ll be a perfect family.'"
