@slcwatt55 @nancy_818 Amulet said that some folks were creating accounts on FB to harass her there too. And when the author apologized to her it was like “oh I thought you were with the hater group.” So she’s actually not sorry for her actions but more so that maybe she got the wrong person. Although I’m sure that she felt Amulet was a hater cause she dared to discuss the book with us on T’s page every once in a blue moon. So she lumped her in. I used to be critical of the book- the character inconsistencies, the contradiction of the authors comments vs what we were reading, plot holes, etc. And by the way, everyone was saying the same thing not just us.
But the more I’m seeing the behaviour on how she’s acting online, the more I’m bothered by the overall attitude. She acted extremely defensively over our criticism of the fictional character Emily, but yet she’s encouraging the bullying of real life people. Or at the very least not saying anything. She can see people on there and on Facebook- people getting called names. She should be posting a message saying “please keep your criticisms book related. I don’t encourage name calling of fellow readers. This needs to be a safe space for everyone.” Just as she was demanding respect for a fictional character, she should be posting notes about people being respectful towards each other.
I know she can write whatever she wants and it’s her book and her convo board, but it’s very telling to me about her character and integrity. She only cares about herself not being attacked but is happy to sit back and allow people who have supported her get bullied, reported, censored and insulted. Hell she’ll publicly make it know that you are on her shit list weaponizing her fans. It’s sad. I wanted to like her and her story but she’s giving mean girl energy.
