Hi, I'm trying to find a Chinese historical novel I read on Wattpad but it was incomplete (around 20 chapters).
The story is about a female lead who is reborn after dying in her previous life. In her past life, she was sold by her uncle to a cruel tyrant known as the Prince of Darkness (something like Prince Nanna/Nangong). She died from poison while she was with him, and he did not cremate her body — instead, he kept it because he loved her.
After she is reborn, she initially holds a grudge against him for that. Her maid tells her that if she is angry at someone, she should whip them. So she goes to punish him, but finds him already badly beaten. She saves him, brings him to her house, and gives him a room. At that time, her father and brother are still alive. He then becomes her personal guard.
Before her rebirth, the male lead had a problem with his leg alignment and needed to be coaxed or comforted by her. Later in the story, she asks him what he would do if someone close to him died, and he replies that he would never bury them — he would keep and cherish them forever. That is when she realizes he didn’t cremate her body because he loved her.
The setting is ancient China, and the male lead later becomes a powerful tyrant after pretending to be weak and being bullied by other princes.
