          On a lantern-lit night in the city, Ares reveals the darkest parts of his past, and Nia unknowingly draws closer to him by accepting the part of himself he has long hated. Once they return from the capital, Belial begins bonding with Ares, taking his first step toward breaking free from toxic vampire customs through the blood rose. As Nia's feelings for Ares deepen, jealousy over Viceria begins to surface, while Adrian persistently draws closer to her despite the distance in her heart. After Ares and Nia's first serious argument, a desperate night shatters the distance between them, crossing boundaries neither intended and deepening their dependence on one another.
