i said to myself that i wouldn't write an onc this year, and then i couldn't get over an idea in my head. so... tl;dr you'll probably be seeing an entry from me pretty soon (also hi how are you guys?  i haven't been on wp since onc2020 ended)

Matched didn’t make the shortlist, but I’m not upset about it. I’m still completely blown away about how far I’ve even come, and my goal was never to make the shortlist in the first place. All I wanted to do was finish this book- and you know what? I did. And I’m proud of that. 
          
          Congrats to everyone who made it! And to everyone who didn’t, don’t feel upset! I’m still proud of you, no matter when you didn’t make it, and you should be too. 

I’m in shock right now. Matched made the longlist! I have no idea what this means for the future of the novella, but right now all I can say is thank you.
          
          Thank you to the ONC staff for giving me a chance to let me show myself I could do it. Thank you to the other contestants for bringing your incredible stories to life. And thank you to my readers. All your feedback allowed me to bring Matched to what it is now!
          
          I am insanely surprised that I’ve made it this far, but here I am. An extra shoutout to @krippy93 and @swhitaker80 who also made the longlist as well as helped me with my own novella, and @thistown0219 who is like 90% of the reason I’ve even made it this far! Congrats to everyone who made it!

So, Matched is finished and I don’t know whether I’m relieved or devastated. I finished with a record breaking 12 minutes before the deadline, so I’m pretty sure I took the cake on procrastination (NOT that it’s a contest, because it’s not. Procrastination is a horrible thing) 
          
          But to add on to my general stress of writing 12k words in 30 hours, there was a misunderstanding with the timezones. So when I submitted my novella, it said the form was closed. I have never been more nervous than in that moment. 
          
          But thanks to the lovely staff with @OpenNovellaContest, I was able to submit my book through my PMs. I don’t even care if I place at this point, managing to submit this book is my greatest achievement.
          
          I’m stressed. I’m going to take a nap.

Hi! Okay, so, somehow, Matched made it through to Round 3 of the ONC. This honestly came as a complete surprise to me, and now it means I’m very behind on my writing! 
          
          So this is me apologizing for the strange updates you guys will be getting at even stranger hours, as I have a LOT of posting and editing to do!
