In the Allegory of The Cave, Socrates is explaining to the student how we are blinded by what we are only allowed to see. If we were to see the truth, then we would return to tell the others, but they would not believe you.
Plato describes this scary cave as if there are tons and tons of unknown things out there. From the day we were born we were told so many things whether they are true or not. We are so occupied into day’s society that we can’t see what truly is right and wrong.
The allegory does still apply to our world today, we are held down by media, government, technologies, and even religion. Theres always someone 'above' us, in authority, like the military, principles of schools, gods/goddesses, and many more.
