Hi Ruth, the coughing scene in Permission to Speak, Ava swallowing her own body to survive, hit me harder than any physical punishment could. Was that drawn from a specific account or did it emerge from your research? Also, how did you balance Ava's interior resistance with the trap that fighting back only made things worse?

@RuthNwosu That's the dream, honestly, letting the work speak for itself. But Wattpad's algorithm can be brutal with quieter, darker stories. Permission to Speak deserves readers who actually need it, not just whoever the algorithm randomly pushes it to.
Have you noticed the right people finding it? Or is it mostly reaching the general YA crowd when it really hits different for survivors and advocates?

@RuthNwosu Ruth, that makes so much sense,"her body becomes the only place she can fight and obey at the same time." You just articulated something I felt reading it but couldn't name. The invisible rebellion hits harder than open defiance ever could.
How's the book finding its audience so far? I know stories like this can struggle to reach the right readers even when the writing is this strong.
