All of my fellow Hamilton fans, just read this. Actually, even if you arent a fan, read it. It's just really inspirational to women these days.
Can we just praise this astonishing lady, Elizabeth Hamilton? She meets Alexander and almost instantly gives up for the sake of her sister, writes to a general to send him home so he got a chance to meet his son, begs her husband to move upstate to take a break, finds out said husband has an affair behind her back while she's upstate with her sister, children, and father. Then her son gets shot, she forgives her husband, thinks Alexander is going to a meeting only to find out he's gone to a duel and gets shot, then he dies in front of her. After all of this, she doesn't seek vengeance, doesn't mope like a lot of widows do, no. She tells his and anyone he so much as shook hands with stories! Then, she founded an orphanage to remember her husband. Raised funds for probably the most iconic monument in America. Speaks out against slavery. All, just to honor her husband and the mark he left on the world. She does all of this to tell his story, which is forgotten for about 300 something years and is only remembered thanks to Lin-Manuel Miranda who remade the story in an entertaining way that also teaches us this history.
So can we please give it up for Elizabeth Hamilton?
