If you write an xreader in first person mode-e.g. I did this, he slapped me- then it is not an xreader as the story is not happening to you-e.g. You ran, he held you-. If it is written as « I ran », then it is written in first person mode and is not an xreader, but more an xoc created by the reader. Because, like you can choose the name, hair colour, etc, you are creating an oc that then has a story of their own with whatever character the story is about. Same thing if the story is written in third person view-She did this, he fell-. If it is that way, it is a full, obvious, of story and not an xreader.
This is a common mistake that I find often and that ticks me off. Honestly, this should be a given but the fact that 60% of the fan-fiction writers are non English speakers makes it ‘acceptable’ because of the fact that it’s not their first language and are not aware of the mistakes in their writing.
Anyway, I think this should at least be something that everybody knows.
