I'm a victim of domestic violence. This story is a sense of therapy for me, a chance to close the book on that painful marriage. If, however, what I've learned over the past five years helps even one other person escape a similar situation, it was worth it.
The stories presented in The Sociopath's Wife are all true; the names, however, have all been changed in an effort to protect their identities and mine.
I didn't get to escape to a new country and assume a new identity because this isn't Hollywood. I live 10 minutes from my abusive ex, and he doesn't know I'm writing this.
This is being written live and this story is fresh; my divorce barely final and a trespassing order is still in place.
Remember, you are not alone.
