SJ de Lagarde is half Dutch, half German, was born in France, and has been living in London for over 15 years.


A keen writer, she previously published Solacium, a contemporary coming-of-age novel about friendship, murder, and schizophrenia as well as children's book The Backpacking Kids, a 8-11-year-olds adventure story with a climate change backdrop. As an award-winning corporate communications advisor with over 20 years of experience, her day job consists of coaching senior managers on their communications strategy.

She oversees various communications areas such as Employee Communications, Change & Crisis Communications, Media Relations, and Corporate Communications at international level. Her multi-cultural upbringing as well as her career in global corporations has given her a unique perspective on the impact of miscommunication, the topic of her new book Cracking the Code. She is a strong believer that positive communications can vastly improve relationships at work and at home.
