I serialized The Human Pet: A Sci-Fi Romance and Her Alien Protector here on Wattpad and the Ink (and left the stories here for close to a yr after completion). I was beyond flattered to get a lot of reads, comments, and suggestions (over 12 K readers between the two websites, although 99% of those readers were on Wattpad).
I had an “incident” or a story stolen and posted by a thief and then sold on Amazon. Was I angry? Yes. Did I have it taken down? Of course, and the thief is now probably banned from Amazon. However, it gave me belief in my stories since the story in its glorious and unedited form was posted, and it was selling. Believe it or not, that gave me the confidence I needed to give it a go and self-publish.
Those of you who have Kindle Unlimited can now read it for free as part of your subscription on Amazon (The Human Pet: A Sci-Fi Romance is under the same pen name, title, and a very similar cover). The story is significantly edited based on the feedback I received, and I believe it is a much stronger story.
I had a lot to learn about romance and story telling, and I still have more to learn. I will always attribute much of what I learned to the readers here, and I want to thank every reader and commenter. I will miss the interactions, but I plan to be back. I don’t know when and in what form, but I plan to either post another story or a link to a freely accessible audio story.
