I feel like there's something wrong with the way things are being run when I was out for two days with the flu and now am writing this in between panic attacks over the massive amount of work I have to make up by tomorrow for class

What's with this gross trope in fiction where the description of the girl is "She was shy and nerdy and quiet and the most insecure person on the planet" but then a guy gets to sweep in and rescue her? Because I assure you, the "bad boy" from school isn't gonna make her feel nice. The "nice guy" from down the hall? Nope. He's a jerk. She didn't ask to be rescued. Your love story sucks. If he kisses her in the middle of a sentence, it's not romantic. He's not listening to her. He's just trying to make her shut up. Don't tell me that's cute, because it's not, it's rude and stupid and the appropriate response to your partner complaining about their problems is to listen to them. Your love story? It sucks so hard. The girl doesn't need that random dudebro to tell her she's beautiful, she needs to know she's beautiful on her own. Stop teaching girls that they need a guy to be confident.
Your romance novel is such utter crap. Your romance novel can also be used as kindling in case of emergency. Your romance novel is cliche and sexist. Just let the nerdy girl be a nerdy girl. No one asked for the high school quarterback's input on the situation.
