Excuse me, but I think your bookshelf is missing a family secret.
A pretty big one.
Imagine finding out after your mother's death that she spent eighteen years hiding your twin brother from you.
That's how What the Mother Left Behind begins.

Hello. Apologies for sliding in unwanted. I just wanna take a sec to give you a recommendation based on what I presume you may like(I hope I’m not wrong). Chicago Mobsters Series is my literary baby. It follows the journey of Alessandra Benedetti, a woman who goes from being beat and subdued by her betrothed, to being loved by one of the most dangerous mobsters in Chicago, and ultimately being the very thing Chicago fears. It contains a slow accent from damsel in distress to chaos made flesh, a psychological type of romance involving unknowing trauma bonding, power imbalance, toxic love, addictions, obsession, and the “we’re both doomed and we know it” trope.
So if this your comfort zone, I’d really appreciate you giving my work a try. ❤️

"I've gone through everything: from watching my people die to being empty as nothingness," Lucian hisses with a soft smile.
"Why are you even still alive, then?," she asks, not quite understanding his reasons.
"Who? Me?," he smirks at her question. "Who lied to you like that?"
