NHIE S2 THOUGHTS:

Guys I knew Zoe was going to be a bitch. Why are they being so horrible to devi, if Paxton two timed the boys would he high fiving him and now that he’s being two timed my guys mad? HOW MANY GIRLS HAVE U DONE THIS TO PAX?

@TheRemixGenius yes absolutely, but I think with nalinis character I can definitely see the growth in it, the way she was actively trying to resolve the issue with her daughter and stuff. But she’s a really interesting character, I would have defo wanted to see and understand more about her. But I do like the portrayal of her, I thought it was really strong. And aneesa as well, she’s definitely a strong character but I also would have wanted to see them address her ED with more depth, bc it was really random. It was definitely needed but it needed a lot more moulding. I think there should have been more scenes where it hinted at her eating disorder instead of the one scene where she took like 1 bite of the brownie. I think the biggest thing for me was the way they portrayed the issues, I feel like it wasn’t very strong and it needed much more substance.

@TheRemixGenius really? Omg, that’s a really interesting theory. I don’t get the impression she is a narcissist I can’t lie. But I love that! It’s a really unique perspective of Devi. And I completely agree, I especially feel like that the show didn’t really capture that trauma of her fathers death, I feel like it was something they skimmed, they barely touched the surface with it. I mean of course she got paralysed but I just don’t feel as though it captured just how difficult it is to deal with a parents death. I think the way they portrayed suggested that they hadn’t truly dug into the psychology of psychosomatic paralysis.

@SUNFL0WERWALLS so disconnected from her daughter. I know from experience that Indian families are never the closest, and parenting is kinda passed down from generation to generation. That conflict with her realizing that her family didn't care for her as much could have blossomed into more tension for the season. I actually really liked Aneesa's character though. The fact that she's a positive Indian influence on Devi may make her feel more connected to her culture. It's always really hard for the children of immigrants to fit in and decide where their place is. They're always "too Indian" or "too westernized," and I think Devi would find that sweet spot with Aneesa in the future seasons (if Netflix graces the world with more episodes). I don't like how Aneesa ended up with Ben. I think that it should be important to note that it's okay to be single. Idk, Aneesa's character seemed more independent in her arrival, and I think it would've been interesting
