I know a lot of you are sick and tired of waiting for updates, and honestly, you have every right to be. But we need to talk about this once and for all.
Dropping all the chapters at once and closing the book sounds great in theory: readers get to binge without having to wait or feel frustrated. But it hurts the book, and by extension, the author. Wattpad's algorithm favors ongoing books with regular updates AND regular high engagement. And here's the part most people don't know: Wattpad decides whether your book is worth pushing within the first 60 minutes of a chapter going live. High engagement (votes AND comments)? It gets through. Low engagement? It gets buried. Simple as that.
Some of you remember when I used to update regularly. I did it for those of you who were excited for the next chapter, and it genuinely harmed my books. I have a good number of chapters written for both Not Your Hero and Save Me, Monster, but I've had to slow down the schedule... and even that isn't helping.
I know most of my loyal readers are silent readers. I know they're immersed in the chapter and only comment every now and then. Hell, I'm a silent reader myself. And I appreciate every single one of you, truly. But unfortunately, that silence isn't giving my books the visibility they need to survive on this platform. That's the dark side of being a small author on Wattpad, you can write your heart out, but if the algorithm doesn't see numbers in that first hour, your book might as well not exist.
I'll end this long rant by saying thank you, to every single one of you who's been here since my very first work (Alessandro's book) back in 2022 (yes, four years of writing, WOW) I wouldn't have made it without you. I mean that ❤️
