The Asset will be published one month from today!  The new cover will be revealed this Tuesday (January 2nd) on my IG and FB accounts.  I’ve also been teasers for each chapter.  (For those who watch the show Ozark, the teasers are a group of pictures showing events of the chapter.)

EXCITING NEWS!  Yes, I’ve been radio silent for a while now but I’ve been working on a secret project I think everyone will enjoy!  If you don’t follow me on Instagram (writer.samarablack) now’s the time to start.  I’m posting clues to this project every Monday in October and there will be other news updates and awesomeness along the way.  This all culminates in a MAJOR announcement in November.

My mantra for the next few months:  I’m not telling you it’s going to be easy.  I’m telling you it’s going to be worth it.

WE QUERY AT DAWN!  That’s right!  The Asset is finally done and query ready.  I spent the weekend getting all the bits together and whittling my agent list down to 5 for my first wave.  Its finally happening!

I posted Lisa’s origin story a couple weeks ago…how she went from a distraction when I was supposed to study for an econ final to 1 completed manuscript that will hopefully be published someday.

          I hope everyone is doing well.  It’s been another minute or several again.  Work and home life have been pretty crazy over the past few months, with a few mental health breaks along the way.  
          
          I’ve been doing a LOT more work on writing in the past few months, and wanted to share an update on the status of each book series, and what I have planned for each…
          
          THE ASSET SERIES:  My editor has been MIA since March so I’m currently working on how to move forward with the final edits to The Asset so I can FINALLY have it ready to query/submit to publishers.  Last weekend I wrote 2000 new (NEW!!!!) words for a bonus chapter from Lucas’s POV…my first new writing in almost 3 years.  Speaking of Lucas…
          
          VOLKO SERIES:  I still have a ginormous block when it comes to Lucas’s book, but I’m going to press on and finish The Widow.  Goal is early 2023.  I’m hoping this will give me the spark I need to move the series forward.  
          
          NEW SERIES – NAME TBA:  If you’re still following me on IG (and the algorithm hasn’t completely buried it), you may have seen my post with a hint about a new series.  I completed the chapter outline (my first one in 3 years), and my plan is to have everything in place to write the first book of the trilogy in November for NaNoWriMo.  More to come soon!
          
          As for social media…I’m trying.  The writing community on Twitter is absolutely amazing, but Twitter in general is a scary place for me.  I’ve made it a goal to pop in and interact at least once a day.  Instagram and I have a love/hate relationship these days and I debate deleting my account at least twice a week.  I’m going to start posting more on my IG Stories to increase engagement, so please, please, PLEASE like/answer/engage if it makes it onto your feed.  I’d be forever appreciative.

Hey everyone,
          
          I hope you’re all doing well in these strange times.  Like most of you, 2021 was a challenging year for me but for the first time in a while I’m looking forward to what the future holds.  I’ve been slooooowly getting back into the groove.  The Asset is still moving toward publishing, but if/when that happens it will be done under a pseudonym.  It’s a long story, but the bottom line is my real name is the same as someone else in the book world.
          So please allow me to introduce myself as Samara Blackheart.  I’ll spend the week updating my profile here and on social media, but it’s still the same old me.  
          
          Speaking of social media, I know those accounts are pretty much dormant these days, but I’m hoping to change that soon.  I’ve been working on new ideas I plan to share…including TWO brand new book series ideas!
