Over the past year, I've been building the world for my own Mahabharata-inspired series centered on Queen Chitrangada. Through her eyes, I hope to explore the lives of the Pandavas, and their family.
While working on Queen Devika's part, I found your interpretation very inspiring. I wanted to understand which details in your story are based on traditional sources and which are your own creative additions, so that I don't accidentally mistake your original ideas for those of the Mahabharata.
If you don't mind, could you please clarify a few things?
1) Are Devika's uncle Surata and his children Kotikasya and Shaviya based on any source, or are they your original characters?
2) Is there any traditional source stating that the Shivi kingdom came under Sindhu's influence or that Jayadratha wished to marry Devika?
3) Is the division of the Shivi kingdom after the dice game based on any source, or is it your interpretation?
4) Is Kotikasya's involvement in Draupadi's abduction and his death at Bhima's hands mentioned anywhere, or is that fictional?
5) Is Ulupi being driven away from her first husband's land found in any text, or is it your own interpretation?
If these are your original ideas, I'll create my own interpretation for my series. If they are based on traditional sources, I'd be grateful if you could let me know which ones so I can read them myself.
