I once had a dream: to write.
I began writing short poems at an early age of 8 (at least, that's as far as I remember). Just like any child, my poems were often rhymed. Writing was an outlet for me to be creative & be free from the exhausting reality.
I remember walking towards my class trying to make a poem about Arnold Schwarzenegger simply because it was a challenge for me to rhyme or even speak his name at that time! Hahaha
I often wrote poems about my pets, my family, friends, or even the most mundane things. Lol
Growing up, I have imagined numerous worlds but only brought a few of them to life in writing.
I had a fanfiction of starship troopers, a teenage fantasy adventure novel co-written by my sisters, a comics-turned-short-movie co-written w/ my highschool friends, and some more.
At 13, I was able to make two books accounting our highschool adventures.
For years, I have thought about wanting to make my works public, but there was always a feeling of hesitation and fear that they may not be accepted well.
My hesitance continued for a long time and as the years passed, so did my dream.
I became busier with life and had focused my attention on matters that get more complicated with age.
There were times I missed writing, but I never found a time to start once again... Until, recently.
I found my stories in the attic. Some in good condition, the others not so much. Three are completed ones, & a few drafts scribbled on a notebook.
Maybe this is the time to make them public. Maybe this is the time I embrace my fear, take the courage & make my child self fulfilled & happy.
Hopefully, this is the time I start living forever. Because, as they say, we can only be immortal when we leave something memorable behind.
Hopefully you find my worlds relatable and inspiring. Perhaps wonderfully horrifying if applicable. 😂
Here's to all of us for always hoping and believing.
May all our dreams come true.
