Genuine questions, what is the general opinion on using Grammarly for writing? Would that be considered using AI to write? I have the app and I really only try to use it when a paragraph feels dull, or when a chapter doesn't quite make enough word count, so I'll use it to add descriptive details, but I try not to do it too much. It honestly helps when I do forget the proper punctuation at times too. Still, lately I've been seeing authors on social media sites getting accused of using AI and not writing genuinely, so I just wanted to know if I should stop using it, or keep doing what I am doing but try to use it even less. Opinions?

@AliSaracen This does help. Thinking of it as an editor puts my mind at ease. I should be able to make a lot more progress now since this worried me and held me back

@SaraLee40 grammerly is an assistant, much like an editor and proof reader. Using ai to write your work for you is like ai using you as the assistant. My point is, using ai as an assistant is fine so long as you are the one doing the writing. Using grammerly is not any more of a dirty move than having an editor so don't worry, it's the using ai to write paragraphs or even whole books is frowned upon. I use ai to chat about my characters, it ask questions and has helped me develop some cool ideas but it was not the ai that did the work, it was me. I'm too tired to write a better answer but I hope this helps

Just a quick question. Does it matter how many words each chapter should be? Is there any "desired" limit or some "unspoken rule" about it? I can't write past a lot of first chapters for this reason, because I don't want each chapter to be too long or too short. Opinions of readers and writers are greatly appreciated! <3

@MKPrin8 Thank you! I've been hitting the 1500 mark and sometimes 1200 and it has always felt small and big. I feel better knowing a baseline. Thank you!

@MKPrin8 1500-2000 is a good baseline. I tried 4000 word chapters and all except serious oldschool readers agreed it was far too long. After some research and questioning I came to the conclusion that 1500 - 2000 was the most digestible figure for books of darker more serious tones while 500-1500 was preferred for more lighthearted books such as comedy and romance. I personally write each chapter as long as my art direction requires but then revise while searching a point I can split it. Write according to what the story requires and think about size afterwards. One of my chapters is only 300 words because that was all it required while some are 2300. What the chapter needs to convoy and portray must be done correctly and satisfactory according to the author first and foremost

11-18-2022. Mother has passed away peacefully.

@AliSaracen thank you so much. I just woke up and it still feels fake. It feels like I'm going to walk out of this bedroom and see my Mom. I know it happened, but my brain is not able to process and cope with it. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

@MKPrin8 To Him we belong and to Him we shall return. A peaceful return is the best we could wish for each other but, I hope it is enough to try and help through this time. Life is short and loss is hard so every part of our character is tested at one time or another. I'm sorry for your loss. My prayers and hugs

Where are the rest of your works? Did I miss something? I wanted you to complete "A Dragon's Violin"

DreamingBud

@MKPrin8 Wise decision, I guess when you lack the motivation to finish one work, the best thing to do is unpublish it than keeping it in halt and leaving the readers hanging. Wish you all the luck for, "Mirrum" and I'll be definitely looking forward to "A Dragon's Violin" though whenever you decide to update it. :))

@DreamingBud My works are either deleted or just unpublished at the moment. "A Dragon's Violin" is currently unpublished until I can get it finished, but I am working on "Mirrum" first until I can find the desire/motivation to work on "A Dragon's Violin" again. "The Wanderer and The Vault Dweller" is also currently unpublished because I am working on the rewrite. I am wanting to wait until all of my works are fully finished before I start posting them. I thank you for inquiring about "A Dragon's Violin" though. Hope this answers your question ❤️
