Having spent most of my life in London, I quit my job in the non profit sector in 2009 and took off on a round the world trip with my husband and princess-obsessed daughter on a mission to find a new place to call home. After several months in India, Singapore, Australia and the US, we settled in Bali where I now spend my days writing by the pool and trying to machete open coconuts without severing a limb.
I started writing after I quit my job to go travelling and realised I needed a new career! I had the hilarious idea that if Stephenie Meyer could write a book about vampires and become a gazillionaire, then so could I! I also wanted to write something that had a really strong female lead, who could really kick ass. I was swimming at the time I had this Eureka moment and by the time I'd done about five laps I had the kernel of an idea for my first novel - which became Hunting Lila.
I finished Hunting Lila (a YA paranormal thriller) just before we left the UK, wrote the sequel, Losing Lila, on the beach in India, and incredibly, managed to sign a two book deal with Simon & Schuster by the time we reached Bali.
A third book, Fated, about a teenage demon slayer (I watched a lot of Buffy as a kid) was published in January 2012 by Simon Pulse (an imprint of Simon & Schuster) and the two sequels have just been released as ebooks.
This year I have a book called The Sound coming out - a contemporary YA thriller with lashings of steam, as well as several short stories.
I've also been working on the Hunting Lila screenplay (alongside an Oscar nominated editor) as well as several other books and screenplays (multi-tasking is one of my favorite things)...AND I even created a pen name LOLA SALT and released my first adult chicklit book this year, with fellow author Becky Wicks. You can check that out here: http://www.wattpad.com/user/LolaSalt
If I'm not writing, I'm dancing, listening to music, watching movies, doing pilates or drinking coffee.
