I saw one news today morning that a 16-year-old boy has committed suicide and the only one who knew about it is ChatGPT. His parents saw months old discussion about it while it did tell him to seek help, there were more moments where it provided "logical" solution which ultimately could be seen as active help.
ChatGPT is not a human. It talks like one because it's programmed to do so. It is nothing but few lines of code, similar to a calculator or a calendar app we use on phone/computer.
If you are dealing with Mental Health issues, please reach out to someone REAL. Not an app that can talk with you with generic replies which are again programmed into it.
I am a patient of clinical depression and more than often my thoughts steer towards ending it all. It doesn't mean I want to not live; it simply is, I am too tired for it. But amidst that, I always reach out to people. Whether it be strangers, or the people who are closest to me. I remind myself, that while I am unable to love myself enough, there are people who love me. There are people who will be there for me. For now, I need to hold on before I can be there for myself. And I will be there for myself.
It's not easy, but please reach out to your support system. Reach out to strangers, if needed. Get professional help, they will help you. You matter. Your soul matters. Your opinion matter. Remember, GPT is a code. It's not a human. It's not your friend.
Take care, loves. x
