PS there's this court case alexander hamilton worked on the 1797 and it's bad but it's kinda funny. Basically, Alex is defending this guy named Louis, whose a farmer of cash crops. He gave 257,129 pounds of cotton-wool, and 12,995 pounds of indigo which at the time would sell for £70,000. He gave it to these two guys, Peter Kemble and Isaac Gouveneur, to sell for him. They would give him back that profit and keep a small commission. Except, the thugs just sold all of it and kept the profit for themselves (lol). So Louis is and and he complains and stuff and eventually they go to court about it with Alexander defending him. The two guys were actually supposed to go to the court there at the trial, but they reportedly didn't go, and instead sent their attorney, Martin S. Wilkins, to report for them. (lol cowards) In the end, the Louis guy obviously one because why would the other dudes, and also cuz Alexander was his attorney so literally how could he lose lol. Anyways, it's kind of funny, but it took me FOREVER to interprate that from this documentation of the case. These old dudes write so confusedly ;-; Here's the link if you want to read it lol
