• a guide to my reading lists:
[Written Like A Pro]
Rounded characters; villains with believable motives; great plot; not easily predicted; immersive narrative voice and storytelling; balanced prose; clean grammar and writing technique.
[Non-Eurocentric]
Predominantly set in a culture and landscape not of Western or European influence.
[Non-Heteronormative]
At least one major LGBTIQ character, who is not portrayed in a condescending, cliché, or otherwise discriminatory manner.
[Protagonists of Colour]
At least one major character of colour, who is not portrayed in a condescending, cliché, or otherwise discriminatory manner.
[Strong Female Protagonists]
At least one major female character who is well-rounded and not of cardboard-cut stereotype; has agency (ie. makes choices and because of her actions propel the plot forwards, rather than the plot propelling *her* forwards); is neither the Mary- or Anti-Sue; and does not constantly and/or significantly require male assistance and/or affection.
