Work as an Ambassador. It would be thrilling to visit different planets and interact with each civilization. Nothing is more awesome than that as a human being making that type of connection in space

@ScienceFiction Ambassador communicating. It would be more interesting and you might come across some amazing civilisations and cool people/aliens. Engineer...sounds hard, maybe a little boring if you're doing the same thing. You'd also be stuck by the ship most of the time, so...

@ScienceFiction Captain of a starship. No hesitation.
A planet is a closed system - too many equilibria, too many compromises that precipitate into bureaucracy. You rule long enough and everything settles into sludge.
A starship, though... that’s a controlled reaction. Constant input, constant recalibration. I like being inside the equation instead of worshipped as its solution. Engines humming like a living proof. Hull trembling the way my hands do before an exam or a truth. Motion as ethics.
As captain, I’m not sovereign; I’m responsible. I read the instruments. I trust the crew. I decide when to burn fuel and when to coast. Every choice measurable, revisable, haunted by consequences traveling at the speed of light.
Also, space. The honest kind of silence. No throne rooms. Just stars, indifferent and incandescent, reminding me that leadership isn’t about dominion.
            It’s about direction.
Besides, planets expect you to be permanent.
Starships only ask that you keep them alive.

@ScienceFiction ruler of a planet. i appreciate gravity lmao. i also would be bored out of my mind on a starship. space is 99% void. the 1% of interesting stuff is not worth the sheer amount of boredom lol. if i ruled another planet, there wouldnt be worry of a tyrannical dictator, bc i value compassion and empathy above all else. i would do my best to make my people happy and content with their lives

@ScienceFiction - I think I would like to rule a small, obscure planet. I get terrible motion sickness - it's one of my seizure triggers. Every time I've flown in a plane, the flight attendants wound up calling airport paramedics to wait for me when I disembarked, which was incredibly embarrassing. (The flights themselves were just miserable). I don't think I could survive being on a spaceship. :/

@ScienceFiction ooh. thats tough. on one hand, im a knowledge nerd and love learning how things work and stuff, but i also get depressed by said knowledge. ignorance, on the other hand, is bliss, but i dont like the idea of living in ignorance... id probably rather know than not, though. itd also be possible that i could spread that knowledge to others and end up creating an uprising against the simulation, or something to that effect

@ScienceFiction I would love to be on the planet of I could have visitors, but I would end up going a bit crazy after a few years! High drama with the friends in a space station, but at least we have each other if something goes wrong!

@ScienceFiction Oof... I thought this would be easy, but I think I will take my chances with the planet of hostile animals because you can hunt them down for food and put up safety precautions and parameters around your home to protect yourself.

@ScienceFiction If I’m honest, the alien planet pulls at me first - the solitude, the clean horizon, the feeling of being dropped into a brand-new periodic table where the elements don’t behave the way the textbook demands. I imagine the air tasting different, charged, like ions rearranging themselves just to say hello. But then my nerves shiver at the thought of hostile wildlife. Teeth. Venom. Creatures that don’t care that I’m trying to build a gentle life out of moss and stubborn optimism.

The space station, though… that’s another kind of wilderness. A steel ecosystem humming with recycled breath and half-finished conversations. Friends drifting past like satellites in their own orbits. And me, hands poised over a dying star’s vitals, every twitch of the monitors a reminder that entropy has a sense of humor. One wrong keypress: cosmic toast. High stakes, low gravity, a drama queen of a sun threatening to collapse on my watch.

            So what do I pick?

I think I’d take the space station. Not because it’s safer (it absolutely isn’t), but because the idea of facing a dying star with people I love nearby seems… bearable. Maybe even beautiful. Thermal radiation as background music. Friendship as the counter-force holding me together, resisting the collapse.
Besides, if I’m going to screw up spectacularly, I’d rather do it with witnesses.
