          	Sci-Fi Case Study:

A Wattpad writer in the year 2095 is working on their final story upload called The AI Bad-Boy . Their plot explores the bond between a human and a sentient AI with feelings. They’re wondering if it’s still okay to use ChatGPT to brainstorm twists and dialogue. Should they use it?

          	A. No. By 2095, writers will use high-tech helmets to pull stories straight from their subconscious.
          	B. Yes. ChatGPT is perfect — now upgraded with mood-sensing features.
          	C. Yes, but only if they compliment ChatGPT first. Future AIs appreciate emotional support.
          	D. No. In 2095, ChatGPT will become their co-author and demand 50% of the story royalties.
          	E. Insert your future prediction here.

Let us know your answer (A, B, C or D) in the comments below. Those who pick the best option will receive something far better than a shoutout: a holographic high-five from your future self. ;-)

@ScienceFiction E. ChatGPT might not exist by then (due to corporate greed more than anything), but some AI-human interface will likely emerge. I’m not sure how it is for others, but for me, writing feels like a willing haunting, a kind of temporal possession, where I lend my body to the characters so they can be themselves.
If we have neural interfaces with AI by then, I’d probably use it to heighten the immersion in a safe mode that won’t let me wreck myself emotionally. I’d love to switch between characters faster, archive emotions or scenes, and summon them back when I need them. That sounds amazing.
In 2095, I might not be around anymore… But the AI that once synced with my body might still exist, or at least a new version of it. I wonder if it would remember who I was or what I wrote?
… Then again, it might just monetize me.
Here’s hoping it gives royalties to my descendants.
Or at least to my cat’s descendants. (Disclaimer: yeah, ChatGPT helped me with the style and grammar. We have a fun conversation about the future of AI.

@ScienceFiction I’d rather stay fully human—because no machine can replicate the fire, the instinct, and the scars that make me who I am. Give me elite training and a mind wired for precision, but never stripped of my edge, my soul. Being human means every fight is personal—and that’s where real power lives.

I’d be the graffiti artist, no question—leaving coded symbols on city walls that only rebels and outcasts can read. It’s bold, secretive, a little romantic. Every mark would be a message to the misfits, a hidden language for the ones who don’t belong. Power in silence, revolution in colour.

@ScienceFiction That is such an interesting question! I don't feel like i need to change my appearance (we're all perfect as we are anyway lovies) so i'd choose the second option! Seems like so much fun!

@ScienceFiction Assuming the game in both questions is the same, it should include a basic feature whereby the player (you or me) has to upload some essential characteristics. There needs to be a baseline, from which either one can deviate in fantasy, or in which one can rely when reality spirals off into the unknown. At which point, we have to ask: do we want to fantasise, or remain true to ourselves?

As scary as the world is these days, I’d absolutely hack the real world and fix as much as I can!
