Fairytale_Fabler

Hi Ryan,
Thanks for connecting. "Write On" refugees are always welcome in my corner of Wattpad. :) Good luck with the novel. Will you be posting it here?
          All the best,
          Alicia

@Fairytale_Fabler My pleasure, Alicia, and thanks for the welcome! The novel's still got a long way to go, but I might post an extract here when it's finished. All the best to you, too! :)

Ciao! I appreciate you following me, it means a lot, especially since I'm just getting active again! It's good to see WriteOn Refugees making Wattpad into a cozy home, despite the differences. I'll be checking into your book, The Glass Enigma, it looks pretty interesting! If you ever have any Wattpad questions, or anything else, I'm always happy to help!

@ElisionEditing Hi, Samantha, thanks for your message! You're most welcome - yes, we've got used to this place, its many features and quirks. WriteOn-ers are an adaptive bunch! As for me, I'm really busy these days, and can't spend time here like I used to. It's a great community, though, you should give the Weekend Write-Ins a try!

Hi Ryan, I could use some expertise.

I have a mute character who communicates with hand-written notes and letters. I'm not sure how to format the letters, especially the ones that add up to at least 10 lines.

I originally had it in italics, but I wonder if that would be an eyesore for that many lines. And I was told the longer letters should be block indented.

          Any thoughts? I appreciate it.

@Staci_the_Writer Thanks, Staci. I've always loved handwriting, and actually find it easier (and faster) than typing on a keyboard. The ideas go straight from the mind to the fingers (and pen :) My writing's quite squiggly, even I have trouble deciphering it sometimes! I'm naturally right-handed, but in my opinion, everyone's potentially ambidextrous. Just a question of 'conditioning' as we make an instinctive preference from an early age. That's my theory, anyway!

Go for it! It's great you're looking further into this, hope your research pays off! :)

@ScribeRyan That's admirable that you actually take time to write things by hand. My penmanship is horrible, and I don't hold a pencil correctly (I've tried to train myself on the "proper" way but I can't...) Tangent: I've sometimes wondered if I was meant to be left-handed because I do a few things with my left hand (shooting pool, miniature golf).

I'm going to look for books that contain letters and see how they formatted them. Oh hey, I have Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone around here! Harry received a letter from Hogwarts. ;)

@Staci_the_Writer Hmm.. you're right, probably more effort than it's worth. Just thought I'd broach the idea, as I wasn't sure it had occurred to you. If it's done well, though, it might add veracity to the story. I'm more of a software enthusiast, but as an end-user. Not much of a coder, except basic HTML. Hardware, on the other hand, always mystifies me! :)

On a related note, I'm a big fan of handwriting, and try to do some everyday.. just random thoughts, etc. There's something about putting pen to paper, the directness of it, that appeals to me. Every letter, every word unique, it makes a change from the monotony of typing! Cheers, Staci, enjoy your storytelling adventures! :)

Thank you very much for reading in print and giving it some feedback! I truly appreciate you taking the time to look at my book. I have since had the book edit it and should probably update what I have on here with what is new.

But I really just can't thank you enough for reading through and commenting which is so hard to find on Wattpad :)

@elle_sherman You're welcome, Elle! The inline commenting feature's very useful, makes it easy to pinpoint specific things. Best of luck on your story! :)
