          I leaned my head gently against hers.
          
          Renzo groaned. “Why do I suddenly feel so single?”
          
          Cael laughed. “My heart hurts after eating.”
          
          I threw a pack of tissues at them, and the table exploded in laughter.
          
          Erlinai didn’t notice. She stayed there, warm and calm against me.
          
          Then the drinks arrived.

          Sovanna crossed her arms, her tone turning sharper. "Aida, you already know what he's like. Don't gaslight yourself into thinking otherwise. What's so 'different' about him, huh? If he was serious, you'd be the only one he's chasing.
