@zoinkerloinker I hear that, writer's block does suck! Dealing with it does really depend on what is feasible, why you have the block and your writing style. I can only give you my experience, but I wouldn't be surprised if something totally different ends up working for you.
Things that I find don't work:
- Walks
- Reading books about writing
- Listening to podcasts about writing
- Any and all brainstorming techniques
- Obscene amounts of caffeine
Things that I find work:
- Reread things you like, steal your favourite elements.
- Reread things you hate, vow to not do the things you dislike or do better.
- Go do something else or work on another project.
- Skip to writing another point in the story. Don't know how to write a scene? Just make a note about what happens and move onto the next one. I like to skip to whatever bit I feel like writing. Come back to the hard part later when you have more ideas. (I tend to never write stuff in order so this works well for me.)
- Go back to source material. Learn about things/concepts/etc related to the world. Which mostly just ends up being watching obscure youtube videos about physics/blacksmithing/cultural history for me usually.
- Deadlines. Always deadlines.
Things that I've heard work but haven't tried:
- Writing from a different character's point of view
- Making mood boards
