I'm bored so here's a mini Sonadow fanfic.
'This is hopeless.'
Sonic thought to himself, his body slowly descending in the seemingly neverending water. The ocean currents flowed around his numb figure, and the taste of bitter salt blocked his senses terribly. What was he even doing anyway? He knew there was no one to see him, no one to hear him, no one to help him. He was all alone in this deserted underwater world.
'Ah, goodbye everyone.'
His thoughts faded into nothing as he closed his eyes, trying to reconcile with the heavy heart that pounded in his ears. Swim, it said, swim. Please swim. Sonic twitched, his oxygen dragging away from him, and the light seemed no more as he plunged into utter darkness.
A dark shadow looked over the ocean, a figure coming closer as Sonic's head began to throb, and he began to wonder if he was actually seeing anything correctly. He jolted at the sudden touch of two hands wrapping around him, and he felt himself being rapidly pushed upwards. His eyes were squinted as the light shone to see him again, and before he fully comprehended what was going on, he was suddenly rolled onto warm, golden sand.
With a spluttering cough, Sonic gasped deeply, sitting up faster than the eye could see. "Oh man!" he groaned, putting a hand to his temple and looking to the side. His eyes opened just a bit wider as he saw Shadow next to him, drenched, also coughing out water. Shadow cranked his head to looked at the blue blur, and he sighed.
"I always thought you couldn't swim," Shadow remarked sarcastically, lying back on the welcoming sand. "I was right."
"Oh, shut up!" Sonic nudged Shadow playfully, and then also collapsed onto the warm grains. He stared up at the sky, understanding and not understanding anything that had just happened, but was grateful he was still alive.
Grateful that he had Shadow.
"If you do this again I'll just let you drown," Shadow's voice cut off the awkward silence.
Okay, maybe Sonic was only a tiny bit grateful.
