Hi, I have a question for everyone, rich and poor, how do you think punishments should work when it comes to paying for speeding tickets for example? Do you think that it should be the same amount for everyone or adjust based on the income of the person?

@SetForthADream I do agree with what you are saying. It makes sense. Thank you for your input!

That’s an interesting question. I believe the purpose of the fine is to inconvenience you, there for you think twice and be more mindful of your speed. That being said however it shouldn’t be the cause of being unable to provide necessities for you or your family; and it should be made just as impactful to others who find themselves now as financially thin.
So, I suppose it might be best to go according to someone’s income instead of just a flat standard fee. While prices might not seem ‘fair’ in numeric value, the punishment and its effects should be equal.
Perhaps paying money shouldn’t be the default punishment for everyone in the first place! What if the fee was waived if the speeding offender took a defensive driving course. A ‘refresher’ class of the rules of the road. Instead of paying with money you’re paying time.
