THE FINAL CHAPTER - 24
Missing: The boy who disappeared
"Saxon, Delilah! " Louis called out, slightly displeased. "Someone come and feed this cat!"
He continued packing away the bowls, but Dusty was relentless, circling his ankles and meowing even louder. Louis sighed, rolling his eyes as he looked down at the cat’s pleading face.
"Alright, alright." he muttered, bending down to stroke Dusty’s soft fur. "But don’t you dare breathe a word of this to anyone."
He walked over to the cupboard where they kept the cat supplies, grabbing a sachet of wet food. As he tore it open and started to pour it into Dusty’s bowl, Saxon appeared beside him, wide-eyed and curious.
"Did you call—oooh." Saxon’s eyes lit up as he saw what Louis was doing.
"Haarrrryyy!" he yelled, turning on his heel and racing towards the living room. "Guess who is feeding the cat!"
Louis groaned, straightening up and watching Saxon’s retreating figure. "Well, someone had to, didn’t they, mate?" he grumbled, giving Dusty a final pat as the cat eagerly began to eat.
Dusty’s loud purring filled the kitchen as Louis shook his head with a chuckle. Just as he was about to return to the dishes, Harry appeared in the doorway, a bemused expression on his face.
"Did I just hear that correctly?" Harry asked, crossing his arms with a playful smirk. "You fed the cat? I knew it."
Louis threw him a mock glare. "I didn’t see you or the kids rushing to do it, did I?" he retorted, but his tone was light-hearted.
Harry laughed, stepping forward and wrapping his arms around him. "You’re a softie, you know that?"
Louis leaned into Harry’s embrace.
"Don’t let that get around." Louis said, his voice low and conspiratorial. "I’ve got a reputation to maintain, you know."
