I've worked as a freelance editor,  mostly for YA, for many years, for companies such as Scholastic, Oxford U. Press, Grolier and Houghton Mifflin.
I've written and published books for children, teens and adults. My newest published novel, The Girl in the Box, was voted a Top Ten Giller People's Choice in 2012. My latest is an historical novel about a young woman striving for independence in 17th century England, Morocco and Barbados. It features pirates and Puritans, among others.
