We need to talk about Daemora because how are we not talking about this woman?
Daemora is such a beautifully written character meant to represent strength and resilience. Although lacking a father figure, Daemora is shown to be strong, and was raised in such an woman empowering household. Her mother, Vaegora is a brilliant role model for her, which is why when we read the text, our impression of Daemora is that there is more that where it comes from.
Daemora is such a symbolic character in a way because she does not carry the Targaryen name similarly to how Jacaerys, Lucerys and Joffrey are accused of being bastards.
I wanted to address this because I think the writing is brilliant and you could see how deep rooted this feeling of not belonging comes to Daemora.
Viserys as we know in the show defends the Velaryon boys with a passion. I think seeing how this scene plays out in a prequel would give us a deep perspective into how Vaegora is as a mother.
And even by the first two chapters, Daemora is portrayed as someone who was raised by her mother. Someone who was raised well, educated, bright.
Both characters are fascinating, and that is just touching the surface. Our Diabolical Rapture is such a fascinating fic to read, and although it only has a few chapters, the text is an easy read, and something that people should look into reading. It is highly enjoyable, and the characters are written in such a way that you cannot help but want to know more about them.
I will always defend Daemora, and you cannot convince me otherwise. And Daemora will blossom to be such an interesting character with a backstory, that would haunt her for the rest of her life.
Daemora is a beautiful character written by Sierra, and I hope the very best for this fic, because as I have read so far, the writing is beautiful.
Thank you Sierra for publishing such a magical piece, and I cannot wait to read more about Daemora. :D
