How long did it take for you to realise that Supernatural's main character was supposed to be Sam, but due to Jensen's performance they kept Dean and made it about the brothers? Dean was supposed to die in 1x12 and be brought back (by John) in 2x01 but they kept him because of Jensen. They had a plan to kill Dean in 2x01 and wait for season 3 to bring him back (yet again, they kept him). Sam was supposed to be pulled from Hell by Cas because he lost John and he made a deal for the one he needs the most to come back (that's when Dean would come back) and Cas later would rescue Sam from Hell when he goes at the end of season three
