I grew up on the same ever-changing, unforgiving Yorkshire Moors of Emily's Wuthering Heights in 70's England. I know what the Brontë sisters were talking about.

Spent most days as a kid out there, climbing cliffs, picking berries, jumping into springy bushes, getting stuck in bogs, hiding, seeking, roaming, romancing. Throwing rocks, getting caught in downpours, scratched, stung, bitten and bruised. Lazing about on a hot day in the musky, fragrant heather; looking up at the night sky. Building dams out of mud and rocks in streams, riding motorcycles, stumbling across a rabbit, fox or pheasant, watching a fire take hold; blackening the landscape. Building a den; sitting in there, watching the rain lash down, feeling the freezing wind leak into my sanctuary, yet content.

I tame terrain and environment now. Designing structures to survive earthquakes, collisions, floods, fire and storms, safely beyond my own life-span, to support the lives of those who follow. By trade; an engineer.

From the concrete jungles of Hong Kong to the jungles of Papua New Guinea; USA, India, Canada, Ireland, Brazil, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand and the British Isles, I plied my trade; watched and learned the ways of those around me. When building civilization engineering structures of any kind; chief engineers and site-laborers, we get our hands dirty together, to get the job done.
